X Factor 2008 - Week 6, Diana staggers through

Respect has to be given to Diana Vickers in the X Factor Competition. She was looking good as the Favourite and then was struck down by severe Laryngitis. Unlucky is not the word.

Diana was forced to miss last week and this time, she was clearly still ill. Despite this Miss Vickers did a miraculous job. A very tough week for her to get through, but get through she did. Mentor Cheryl Cole will be mightily relived after losing Laura White last week.

With this performance of Coldplay's Yellow, Diana Vickers deservedly sails through to Week 7. Not only did she sing through the pain of Laryngitis, due to a last minute song change, she had hadly any rehearsal time. Simply amazing.

This Week was one to just survive and hopefully 7 more days can bring Diana to full recovery. The X Factor needs a unique singer like her.

ITV: The X-Factor

Whilst the BBC have their yearly contest of "Strictly Come Dancing", the ITV have "The X-Factor". Both shows are always on at the same time of year and involve the viewing public to vote for their favourites to stay in the respective competitions each week.

The main fun for X-Factor, for me, is the earlier shows where you get to see the acts that are just plain dreadful. Thousands of people audition each year and while most will be "just average", a small percentage will be "extremely poor". Very very extremely poor in fact. Maybe a word has yet to be invented to adequately convey how bad they actually are. Oddly, each one of them believes they are the best singer in the world ever.

Delusion must be quite a strong influence, because one suspects, if you have reached such a high level of awfulness, you must surely be vaguely aware of it. Mustn't you?

Here is a video I found on Youtube from a few years back. The producers of the show gave all the worst auditioners a chance to perform a Michael Jackson song together. Pay particular attention to the women that misses her queue completely.

Yes... it started off poorly and ended at the depths where no human was ever meant to journey. Abandon ship! Abandon ship! Get out while you can !!!

Annoying Song on the Brain !!!

I'm sure everyone has experienced this annoying phenomenon at some time or another. You hear some catchy tune from somewhere, it photocopies itself deep into your brain, and you then find yourself singing or humming it for weeks. Rarely do you know all the words, most often just a snippet of the song. Try as you may, you just can't shake it.

Eventually it will wear off... you hope.

Well... I've currently got, of all things, France's entry to this years Eurovision Song Contest stuck in my head !!!

What should I do? Shoot myself?

Best to go with the flow I think. The song is Divine by Sebastian Tellier and scored 47 points. This was 33 more than the UK! The French entry to me sounds a bit like something Pulp would have put on a B-side.

There you go. How many times have you played this song so far in this blog? Careful, you could get yourself into trouble.

** Presses play again.
