X Factor - Week 4, Diana Vickers getting better and better

On Big Band night, she didn't exactly sing a Big Band style song. On Disco Night, she didn't strictly sing a Disco song.

Who cares?

We will let her off because Diana Vickers has the X Factor and is just way too good!

The two weeks which should have been a minefield for Diana and her unique singing voice, she has just demolished to become the 6/4 Favourite to win.

She should be back to her comfort zone Week 5. It's Mariah Carey Night and I look forward to Diana's performance probably most of all. On this sort of form, it will be a major shock if she doesn't reach the final.

X Factor 2008 - Disco Night - JLS, working their way back

I haven't really been a big fan of Boyband JLS in this years X Factor competition... up until now.

These boys are just getting better and better. Disco really suited them and in a competition dominated by act after act of female solo artists, JLS could start to stand out as a serious votable alternative.

Week 5 is Mariah Carey Song Night which may be a problem. If the boys can safely navigate this, then who knows how far they can go. Mentor, Louis Walsh, is obviously hoping, all the way.

Louis lost two acts in the first two weeks and if he can win with JLS, it would be a comeback perhaps far larger than even Rocky Balboa could ever hope to dream of.

JLS are currently quoted at 8/1 to win.

X Factor 2008 - Week 4 - Austin Drage is out !!!

Well, this is certainly a result that not many people could have expected. Austin Drage is out of the X Factor !!!

I thought Daniel Evans would be a dead cert to go out this week, but he didn't even land in the bottom two. His rendition of, "Don't Leave me this way." was enough to see him through. Louis didn't like him and said he was the perfect pub singer. Simon Cowell also described the act as hideous. That damming summing up of course, was enough to get everyone voting at home and Mr Evans proceeds safely to Week 5.

Austin found himself in the bottom two surprisingly with Rachel Hylton. No one could have predicted that these two would have finished here. When the going gets tough, you can always expect Rachel to come out all guns blazing and this is exactly what she did. Austin was the one to go and Simon Cowell loses his second act from the competition. He had Louis now just have one act left.

Rather unfortunate that Austin should go at this stage. He had a good voice and didn't really put a foot wrong. Maybe he didn't fully connect with the viewing public, but as mega band Queen once said, Another one bites the Dust.
