X Factor 2008 - Charity Single Heroes, Where's Evans & Lorenzo?

For the first time in The X Factor's history, all 12 finalists have released a single in aid of charity. The Charity, Help For Heroes helps those service men and women hurt in the line of duty and all proceeds from the single will go to this charity and also the British Legion Poppy Appeal. The song is available to buy from shops or to download.

A great song and very interesting to see all finalists singing together as one. As you can tell, they are miming, but here, for the first time you can hear what their recording voices are like. Some people sound a lot better, most notably Girlband and Bad Lashes who have already left the competition.

Where were Daniel Evans and Ruth Lorenzo in this performance?

Well, you couldn't make it up. They were stuck behind a faulty door and couldn't get on stage. Yes, really. Lorenzo said later,

"I want the people to know it wasn't me that didn't want to be there, it was a mistake. It was terrible the doors didn't open. I stood and sang my part behind the doors."

Simon Cowell explained,

"The door got jammed, which is why Daniel and Ruth didn't come out, so I apologise and I feel bad for them. But maybe we'll arrange another performance so they get to sing as well."

And so, the X Factor competition rolls ever onward. Don't forget to watch Disco Night this Saturday and buy Heroes with added Lorenzo and Evans.

Simon Cowell to save Christmas Top of the Pops?

There will be one less TV programme to watch this Christmas... probably. The BBC have said they will not be producing a special Top of the Pops show this year.

The music show ran for 42 years before being withdrawn in 2006. The BBC have always said previous that they would continue to make the traditional Christmas special. With increased competition from other media streams such as MTV and Youtube, it looks like they have changed their minds.

Enter X Factor head honcho, Simon Cowell,

Cowell told The Sun,

“I’ve got a suggestion for them. If they don’t want it, I’ll take it. I’m serious. They can give it to me or I will give them a bit of money. Why end the tradition? It’s like not having Christmas pudding. I don’t believe in breaking with tradition. It’ll be weird not having it there. It’s like one less present to open. I can see how it’s less popular now, with MTV and YouTube, but I always thought it would stay. I really want it back. It’s not too late for the BBC to change their minds. It would be brilliant.”

Later, with ideas to move the Top of the Pops format to ITV, Mr Cowell added,

"I would rather it came to us than just sit in the dustbin. It's been a good year for music and I think it's part of the tradition. It's not as though people aren't interested in music at the moment,"

The BBC have yet to say whether Simon Cowell has made firm any offer for the rights to the show. Hopefully he does because it would be great to see Top of The Pops back on the air and with Cowell, you can trust it will be in a safe pair of hands.

BBC, Worth the Licence Fee?

Ok, so you've devised a Saturday night show which involves B-List celebrities wearing silver Lycra costumes trying to position their bodies correctly to fit through a gap in a moving wall to avoid being knocked into a pool of cold water. It sounds like an idea from the brain of Homer Simpson.. but yes, the show exists. If I have paid the TV Licence Fee for this quality of programming, then I think I must be due some change.

Are the BBC running out of ideas?

Having had Vanessa Feltz on twice, they knew having her on a third time was maybe pushing it. So... they had to get some one like Venessa Feltz, but not actually Venessa Feltz. Here's what they come up with,

Yes that's right... a big sumo carrying someone else.

To quote a comment on Youtube,

"People watch this? There's no hope for Mankind."

2008 I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here !

Although no official start has been announced, it is nearing that time again. November usually signals the rise of jungle fever and the beginning of the ever-popular, I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here!

Back for an Eighth series, one thinks how long can this show go on for? How long will the viewing public watch ever-less-known "celebrities" arguing about rice, rats, cleaning the toilet, eating and being covered in a assortment of weird insects and spiders? Unknown, but the viewing figures from last year were high, so maybe there's some mileage yet.

Of course, the success of each show is 100% dependant on the Celebrities and their differences and reactions to one another. Some years are a lot funnier than others. No one has been announced as a Jungle resident yet, but here are some of the rumours circulating on who might be going / parachuting in.

Bobby Davro, Donny Osmond, Dwaine Chambers, Syed Ahmed
Frankie Dettori, Greg Rusedski, Tim Vincent, Bobby Brown
Tim Lovejoy, Willie Thorne

Abigail Clancy, Sarah Greene, Emma Barton, Emma Rigby, Fiona Phillips, Jamie Winstone, Bonnie Langford, Shannon Elizabeth

None of the above have been confirmed. Some may be there, none may be there. Who knows? Celebrities that definitely won't be there are Prince Phillip, Elvis Presley or anyone that is still in paid employment. Bobby Davro is looking a stronger likelyhood all the time.

Previous winners, Kings or Queens of the Jungle are,

2007 - Christopher Biggins
2006 - Matt Willis
2005 - Carol Thatcher
2004 - Joe Pasquale
2003 - Kerry McFadden
2002 - Phil Tufnell
2001 - Tony Blackburn

The actual line-up for Celebrity Get Me Out of Here should be revealed very shortly by ITV television.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Jodie Kidd dancing with cracked rib... and Ian

After a rocky start, Jodie Kidd is steadily improving in this years Strictly Come Dancing, despite performing with a cracked rib! It was revealed, Jodie was injured during training for the American Smooth a few weeks ago.

What a battler she is. Her Paso Doble last week scored 26 points with the Judges which was enough to see her through to Week 7.

Odd as it sounds, Jodie suffered a hairline fracture when professional dance partner, Ian Waite, held her too tight. It's possible that Ian has at some point been bitten by a radioactive spider and now exudes massive strength. Expect unusual dance moves next time out.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7 - Who is next to fall? Latest Odds

Week 7 of Strictly Come Dancing is a bit of an odd week. Each celebrity is performing a different dance. Sounds like voting chaos to me. Here are the latest odds on each Celebrity's chances of leaving the dance floor for good,

Heather Small 2/1
Andrew Castle 2/1
John Sergeant 7/2
Jodie Kidd 11/2
Lisa Snowdon 14/1
Christine Bleakley 14/1
Rachel Stevens 66/1
Cherie Lunghi 66/1
Tom Chambers 80/1
Austin Healey 80/1

Heather Small and Andrew Castle are joint favourites at 2-1 to go and I think this is probably about right.

John Sergeant will survive again this week, no matter what. That is a given. So in order to avoid the bottom two, Heather and Andrew are perhaps reliant on a slip up from either Jodie, Lisa or Christine.

Andrew Castle looks particularly vulnerable this time round. He is performing the Samba this week which could be a problem.

X Factor 2008 - Week 4 - Alexandra Burke flying high

She is 25/1 to go out of X Factor this week? I don't think so. Make that 500/1, Alexandra Burke is on fire!

If a female act doesn't win X Factor this year, I will quite literally eat my own feet. Any of a number of the women are potential winners, not least of all the magnificent Alexandra Burke. Her Big Band performance last week of Candy Man was simply brilliant.

A great Big Band song which I think you'll agree, suited her very well. Expect another great performance this week where Miss Burke will be in full Disco mode.

In a few weeks time, the X Factor competition is going to get extremely tight.

X Factor 2008 - Week 4 - Who will be Eliminated ?

Week 4 is Disco Week on the X Factor 2008. Here is how the betting market views each acts chances of being voted out the competition.

Daniel Evans 8/13
Ruth Lorenzo 4/1
Rachel Hylton 6/1
J L S 11/1
Eoghan Quigg 14/1
Austin Drage 25/1
Alexandra Burke 25/1
Laura White 100/1
Diana Vickers 100/1

Daniel Evans seems a dead cert to go out. He is odds on at 8/13. With the talented Ruth Lorenzo and Rachel Hylton next behind him, I'm afraid I'm inclined to agree. So strong are this years acts, its hard to envisage any other outcome.

It's tough to guess who will feature in the bottom two sing off against Daniel this week, but Cheryl Cole's acts should be safe. Burke, White and Vickers are all rank outsiders to go.

Group mentor, Louis Walsh, will be praying once again his sole remaining act manages to stay in. If they land in the bottom two, this is the one act that Daniel Evans perhaps has a chance of beating.

The Premiership - Arsenal 4 - 4 Tottenham, Redknapp begins

What a turnaround for Tottenham Hotspur! They were just 2 points from 7 premiership games. Juande Ramos was replaced by Harry Redknapp from Portsmouth and then it was 4 points from the next two games, a points increase of 200%.

Arsenal 4 - 4 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham had been struggling to score goals ever since the season began and to score 4 away to London rivals and Title contenders Arsenal, will be a major confidence booster. In a game that was laden with defensive mistakes from both sides, the manner in which Spurs forced the draw spells good omens for the remainder of the season.

In a game played at fantastic pace, Arsenal's Theo Walcott had an early chance in the 10th minute, but his left footed shot passed just wide of the post from 17 yards out.

Then it happened. An absolute Wonder Goal. David Bently shot from 40 yards out with a looping volley that flew into the back of the net. First blood to Tottenham and Harry was jumping off the bench in celebration. It truly was an awesome goal.

Spurs Goalkeeper, Gomez, looked suspect the whole game and surely he will be replaced under the new Redknapp era. He was particularly weak at corners as time and time again he would rush out of goal, with zero chance of getting the ball. This lead to Arsenal equalizing 8 minutes before half time through Mikael Silvestre.

Gallas added a second just after half time and when Adebayor stuck in a third in the 64th for Arsenal, the game looked over... or at least it should have been.

Arsenal failed to close down the game. Darren Bent came on for Pavlyuchenko in the 65th minute and scored just 2 minutes later following an error by gunners goalkeeper Alumunia. 3-2.

Awful defending from Spurs again gifted Adebayor who found Van Persie who scored with a powerful strike in the 68th. 4-2.

From here, Arsenal should have just played the clock down, passed it around until the game was over, but they didn't. Maybe it was cockiness or maybe immaturity from a relatively young side, but they were made to pay. Late goals from Jenas in the 89th, courtesy of a clichy slip and the equalizer in injury time from Aaron Lennon who pounced on the rebound after Modric hit the post from 25 yards out.

4-4 it ended.

One of the most entertaining matches of the season so far. Both sides deserved to get something out the game and Tottenham made a magnificent comeback when the match seemed totally out of their grasp. If new manager Harry Redknapp can keep them playing like this and remove the basic defensive errors, it is hard to see Spurs being in the relegation zone for much longer.

Formula 1 - A Lap of Interlagos

Youtube can be very handy at finding that elusive bit of footage.

The last race of the Formula 1 season happens this Sunday at Interlagos, Brazil. It is a fast undulating track with some segments of tight bends. Here is a Youtube video of the Benetton of a view seasons ago racing a lap. The commentary is from the knowledgeable, Martin Brundle.

The main place for overtaking is the long start/finish straight at the end, under breaking. If you are close enough to the driver in front, there is also a great chance to get a tow in the clean air and pass.

Lewis Hamilton is currently 7 points ahead of Massa in the Championship and is quoted at odds of 1/8 on to win. (That's £8 to win £1). Massa is listed at 9/2. Lewis was in a similar position last year however, but Kimi Raikkonen won at 12/1.

Should be a good race with some controversy and outrageous maneuvers... I hope.

Formula 1 2008 - Lewis Hamilton, second time lucky?

He was in a similar position in his rookie year, but things didn't work out. Can it be second time lucky for British F1 Driver, Lewis Hamilton?

If so, he will become the first Brit since Damon Hill in 1996 to win and become the youngest World Champion in F1 History. The record is currently held by Fernando Alonso at 24 years, 59 days. You may have heard of him.

Hamilton leads the Drivers Championship by 7 points with just a single race remaining. The last deciding race takes place this weekend at Interlagos race track, Brazil.

Last year, Hamilton was defeated by Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen for the Championship and this year it is his Brazillian team mate, Phillipe Massa's turn to try to upset the party. 2007 World Champion Raikkonen, has suffered a mysterious drop of form the second half of 2008 and is way out of the running. He could however, still provide a bit of a nuisance to Hamilton during Sunday's Grand Prix.

In interview Hamilton said,

"I know we didn't have the pace to win last year, but things could be very different this season. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the track at Interlagos and seeing where we stand."

Last year, after an eventful race, Lewis was forced to retire with gearbox failure.

Astonishingly, Mclaren haven't had a Drivers World Champion since Mika Hakkinen in 1999. Team Boss, Ron Dennis and all his pit-crew will surely be keeping their fingers crossed as will most of the British viewing public.

Massa was second at Interlagos last year and won the race the previous, we know he is quick at the track. All this makes for a potentially exciting and nail biting race. Phillipe will be racing to become the first Brazillian World Champion since Ayrton Senna. That surely is incentive enough.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2008 - Austin Healey, the one to beat

Austin Healey certainly looks the one they have to catch this year. After a dip in performance last week, week 6 saw him bounce back with the Viennese Waltz performed with professional dance partner, Erin Boag.

A great dance which saw Austin top the leaderboard with 34 points, 2 points clear of nearest rivals Tom Chambers and Rachel Stevens.

In was never in doubt that he would qualify into Week 7 and frankly, it will be a major shock if he does not reach the final. Although, in this competition, you can ill afford to be complacent.

The big four strongest supported in the market are, Austin Healey, Tom Chambers, Cherie Lunghi and Rachel Stevens. I wouldn't completely rule out Lisa Snowdon either as she continues to improve.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7 - No set dances ?

What are the set dances going to be on Week's 7 Strictly Come Dancing?

Well... that is a very good question. Usually there are two dances with each couple performing either one, depending on what they have danced previous or how it has been drawn.

What is known so far is Lisa Snowdon and Brendan will be dancing the Tango, Tom Chambers the Paso Doble and Christine Bleakley, the American Smooth.

Although it may be more entertaining to watch, I'm not sure I'm in favour of everybody performing a different dance. For one, how are you supposed to judge them all against each other? How can I tell if Lisa's Tango is better than Christine's American Smooth? If Tom's Paso Doble is better than Cherie's Moonwalk? If Castle's Cha Cha Cha is better than John Sergeant's headspin?

If it were Spring-Board Diving, the points would be multiplied by the element of difficulty of the dive. This system doesn't work on Strictly and the Judges just mark from 1 to 10, or in Len Goodman's case, 5 to 10.

The final result could be a bit random this week which must be good news for Andrew Castle, random is what he needs to stay in.

X Factor 2008 - Rachel Hylton is Feeling Good

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life, and she's looking good!

If you're looking for the eventual winner of the X Factor 2008, then don't completely rule out Rachel Hylton. She sure stepped up a gear on Week 3 Big Band Night and delivered this powerful performance,

With a voice as strong has hers is and the latest Bond film about to be released, it was easy to imagine Rachel, one day, singing the title theme music. What a Diva, a great performance delivered with confidence and attitude.

This was the first time in the competition she had really performed a song that suited her voice and boy, did she deliver.

Rachel Hylton is mentored by Dannii Minogue who is yet to lose an act from the contest. Her other two acts are Ruth Lorenzo and Daniel Evans who survived the bottom two sing off against Scot Bruton.

Formula 1 - Ferrari to Quit?

In an announcement that will surely rock the sport, Ferrari have said they may quit Formula 1 if planned rules are brought in to standardise the engines.

Ferrari hold great historic significance in Formula 1 which dates back to 1950. Without Ferrari, the sport would lose a lot of its allure which is struggling as it is. Their first World Champion was Alberto Ascari in 1952 and they have always been a top performing team. Ferrari F1 Champions to date are,

1952: Alberto Ascari
1953: Alberto Ascari
1958: Mike Hawthorn
1961: Phil Hill
1964: John Surtees
1975: Niki Lauda
1977: Niki Lauda
1979: Jody Scheckter
2000: Michael Schumacher
2001: Michael Schumacher
2002: Michael Schumacher
2003: Michael Schumacher
2004: Michael Schumacher
2007: Kimi Räikkönen

The Formula 1 ruling body, The FIA, have said the changes are necessary to cut rising costs and intends to implement these new rules from the 2010 season onwards.

A statement was released from Ferrari,

"We have major reservations over any proposals that would lead to teams using the same engines. It would deprive Formula One of its whole reason for existing, which is based on competition and technological development. If these elements were to become obsolete, our Administrative Council reserves the right, after consultation with its partners, to evaluate whether we remain committed to the discipline."

It is unlikely that the FIA will back out of their proposed Engine move so we now run into a bit of a stalemate. Bernie Ecclestone said,

"What we want is to reduce the necessity to spend to be competitive. That is the simplest thing."

I can see both sides of the argument here, but surely some kind of middle ground can be found. Formula 1 without Ferrari? It doesn't bare thinking about. Lets hope some sort of agreement can be reached.

Phillipe Massa has an outside chance of grabbing the 2008 title for Ferrari this season. With one race to go in his native Brazil, he trails Lewis Hamilton by 7 points. He would need to win and Lewis Hamilton finish 7th or lower.

Ferrari look good for the Constructors championship of 2008.

X Factor 2008 - Week 4 - Diana Vickers 7/4 Favourite to win

Big Band week on the X Factor was perhaps going to be a week when favourite, Diana Vickers, was going to struggle to match the style of the genre to her voice.

Think again,

Smile was a fantastic song choice for her. One of the more gentler of the Big Band style numbers, this slower tempo song was one she could really get hold of.

Another great performance saw her favouritism in the betting market strengthen even further down to 7/4. When Vickers sings, the sound is just magical and there is no one in the pop industry today that is quite like her.

Her biggest threat on Big Band night was perhaps not being knocked out the competition, but instead, falling off that swing! If Ricky Gervais stunt double, Daniel Evans, had been on it, the whole thing surely would have crashed into the audience. Thankfully there was no swing in Daniel's performance whatsoever.

Easy to like and hard to oppose, I can't wait to see what she performs for this weeks Disco night, another one that in theory does not really suit her unique singing voice.

X Factor - Week 4 - Who will Win?

This years X Factor competition broadcast on ITV, so far, has been one of the best ever. Last week Simon Cowell lost Scott Bruton and Cheryl Cole's three female acts still seem pretty much invincible. Louis of course, is left with just one remianing act who will struggle to make the final in a particular strong year.

Week 4 is themed Disco Night. Here is how the market currently favours each acts chances of winning the entire X Factor contest.

Diana Vickers 7/4
Laura White 7/2
Alexandra Burke 5/1
Austin Drage 7/1
J L S 8/1
Eoghan Quigg 8/1
Rachel Hylton 10/1
Ruth Lorenzo 20/1
Daniel Evans 33/1

Cheryl Cole's girls stubbornly remain 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites to win making the Girls Aloud mentor 2/5 on to have the eventual winner.

Why Ruth Lorenzo remains a whopping 20/1 to win, to me, is a bit of a mystery. Her last two performances have been fantastic. Whilst I do not think she will be the overall winner, 8/1 would probably be more realistic. JLS seem a little short at 8/1.

Strong favourite to win now is Diana Vickers, way ahead in the market at 7/4. There is still a long way to go of course and anything can happen along the way. I thought Diana would struggle with last weeks Big Band night, but she took it in her bare-footed stride. I have similar reservations about her unique voice being able to handle Disco, but being the potential star that she is, she'll probably prove me wrong again. Hopefully this is the case as she is a joy to listen to.

Daniel Evans could find it hard to stay in this week.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7 - John Sergeant, Captain Invincible?

What can one say about Mr John Sergeant in Strictly Come Dancing?

By dance ability alone, he should have been voted out the competition long ago. But, this competition oddly isn't just about dance ability, it's about entertaining the viewing public. And he does this in great big bucketfuls.

Was John Sergeant's Paso Doble with dance partner, Kristina Rihanoff, the fiercest and most energetic Paso Doble of all time?

Well.... quite clearly not. However, it was immensely watchable. John's unique dance style is an entertaining as they come and if the competition were based on viewers votes alone, he surely would be one of the main contenders to win.

This week, his performance scored 21. This was second from bottom, but yet again the voting public saved him. I wouldn't be surprised if John was top of the leaderboard just counting the home vote.

One suspects John will be in the contest for quite a few weeks to come yet and Strictly Come Dancing is richer for it. A wry grin, a witty one liner, Captain Invincible advances safely to Week 7.

Keeping voting for John Sergeant!

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7 - Support for Cherie

Cherie Lunghi has suddenly overtaken singer, Rachel Stevens in the betting market and now is favourite of the Ladies to win.

This is somewhat of a surprise. It follows a week where her Paso Doble didn't go entirely to plan. A slip-up at the beginning of the dance seemed to destabilize her, and from there on, she was just going through the moves and not really living this passionate dance. Her natural grace of movement perhaps made up for some of the earlier problems.

Judge Bruno commented, "You are naturally gifted. The performance just wasn't up to the standard of the actress you can be."

Despite everything, Cherie still scored a credible 31, 1 point shy of Rachel Stevens total. There is obviously money going on Lunghi to win and that is why her odds are shortening in the market.

Head Judge Len said, "you gave a good performance but not quite as good as you have been."

It was of course no surprise at this stage, Cherie swept through to the next round without any problems and it is likely she will bounce back to give a good performance this Saturday.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7 - Currents odds to Win !!!

Top Blogs
With the elimination of Mark Foster last week, we gracefully move into week 7 of the Strictly Come Dancing contest. Things are gently starting to rise in temperature as the contest now lightly simmers. As each person is voted off, the more costly any errors become for the following weeks survival... unless your name is John Sergeant of course.

Here is how the market currently fairs each remaining celebrities chances of winning the competition.

Austin Healey 7/4
Tom Chambers 3/1
Cherie Lunghi 7/2
Rachel Stevens 9/2
Lisa Snowdon 12/1
Christine Bleakley 16/1
Jodie Kidd 33/1
John Sergeant 66/1
Heather Small 100/1
Andrew Castle 100/1

Very little change at the top. Austin Healey remains 7/4 favourite to win and Cherie Lunghi, for the first time, becomes the most likely woman. Rachel Stevens odds go out a point to 9/2, but one guesses we are yet to see the best from her.

Heather Small escaped the bottom-two dance off this week, but that doesn't stop her dropping to become the 100/1 outsider, a position she shares with Andrew Castle.

The bottom two this week is likely to be any combination of Kidd, Small or Castle.

Quantum of Solace, James Bond Trailer

Bond is back... again!

Yes, he does like to keep coming back this one, this time his twenty-second adventure in The Quantum of Solace.

Daniel Craig stars as the British Secret Agent for a second outing which follows on from the events of Casino Royale.

Other notable cast members are,

Camille played by Olga Kurylenko
M played by Judi Dench
Dominic Greene played by Mathieu Amalric
Felix Leiter played by Jeffrey wright
Agent Fields played by Gemma Arterton

All the right ingredients seem to be there, stunts, explosions, chases, cars, women. This movie has received a few unfavourable reviews, but if you're a fan of James Bond, Quantum of Solace is sure to please. Personally, I'm yet to watch a Bond film I didn't like.

X Factor - Week 3, Relief for Louis Walsh, JLS through

Top Blogs
Mentor Louis Walsh must be breathing a huge sigh of relief this week as he, at last, manages to keep one of his acts in the X Factor 2008 contest.

Week 1, he lost Bad Lashes, week 2, he lost Girlband. With both his girl groups gone, mentor Louis Walsh was just left with boyband JLS.

It was Big Band night and JLS performed the 1960 Dean Martin classic, Ain't That a Kick in the Head? Martin performed the song in the original film version of Ocean's Eleven.

The boys performance was credible. Entertaining, if not completely blowing the audience away and they deserved to survive another week.

JLS are not the best act left in the competition, but they are by no means the worst and now they have that added uniqueness... they are the only group left in it. In a year where the voting public may be numbed by act after act of fantastic female singers, JLS may be hoping they offer a refreshing alternative.

This Saturday is Disco week and that should suit them again.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing, Week 6. This week the bottom two, in the fight against elimination, were Swimming verses Tennis or more accurately, Mark Foster verses Andrew Castle. Here is how the Judges viewed it.

Neither performances were a perfect dance by any means, but Andrew had shown a lot of improvement over previous weeks with his posture and deserved to go through with dance partner Ola Jordan.

Mark will be missed as he is a genuine all round good guy. He certainly improved in the competition, but in the end was a bit of a fish out of water.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 6, Mark Foster Out

Swimmer, Mark Foster, has become the sixth celebrity to be voted out of Strictly Come Dancing 2008.

He and professional dance partner, Hayley Holt, finished bottom after the Judges initial votes and this time the added Public vote was not enough to save them from the dance off. Here they faced former tennis star, Andrew Castle and dance partner, Ola Jordan. Andrew was a little unlucky to be in the dance off as he perhaps gave his best performance of the contest so far.

When the dance off was complete, Craig, Arlene, Bruno and Len all agreed, Mark should be the one to go.

Mark Foster is the most successful swimmer Britain has ever produced. Six times a World Champion, with 10 European Champion medals and two Commonwealth Champion medals, he has also broken eight world records in his career. This accounts for nothing on the dance floor however and when all is said and done, I think he had a pretty good run.

The Premiership - Tottenham finally Win !!!

Tottenham have finally won a game of Premiership football this season!

No, that's not an illusion, the above line really does say that.

All it took were 9 Premiership games and the sacking of Juande Ramos and Tottenham Hotspur are finally off the mark.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Bolton

Watched in the stands by new manager to be, Harry Redknapp, he must have been delighted with the result. He takes charge fully from the next game onwards. Stand in Clive Allen did a fantastic job as the team played the best they have done all season.

A bright start resulted in a 16th minute headed goal from major signing Pavlyuchenko. He positioned himself well to get on the end of a David Bentley cross. Bolton goalkeeper, Jasskelainen was given no chance to stop it.

After the goal, Tottenham played some attractive Football had Bolton struggled to get into the game. A frustrated McCann was sent off for a clumsy tackle on Huddlestone and then Spurs were playing against just 10 men. This made a nice change from previous games.

Darren Bent added a second in the 75th from the Penalty-Spot and Tottenham should have really scored more. But a win is a win and it is one the Club will have been very relieved to have earned.

Hopefully this now signals the start of a new era, and Spurs can lift themselves off the bottom of the table and with momentum out of the dreaded Relegation zone.

Harry's first real game in charge will be on the 29th October away to London rivals Arsenal.

X Factor 2008 - Week 3 - Ruth Lorenzo Back in Business

If anyone can threaten Cheryl Cole's acts dominance of this years X Factor competition, then surely it must be the rapidly improving Ruth Lorenzo.

Facing the bottom two sing-off last week, she then found a totally different gear. A mind-blowing performance of Purple Rain, and then this week, the classic, Summer Time.

A fantastic performance, it would have been a travesty if she had gone out last week. A class act all round, the odds on Ruth Lorenzo to win surely must shorten come Monday. Before the Saturday's week 3 performances, she was in fact quoted as second favourite to go out! Incredible, how wrong they were.

Daniel Evans and Scott Bruton battled in the bottom two instead. When the music stopped, it was goodbye to former Pontins blue coat, Bruton.

The Premiership - Vamos to Ramos, Hello to Harry

And it is finally here, the headline that journalists everywhere have been dying to write in order to appear poetically amusing, "Vamos to Ramos!"

It was perhaps inevitable. As soon as Spurs Manager, Juande Ramos was given the Tottenham Board's full backing, a sacking was imminent. This sequence of events has happened many times before in football and will no doubt happen again. With just 2 points from 8 premiership league games and an early exit from European competition looking likely, Tottenham had to do something.

So what did they do?

The Tottenham board sacked Spaniard Juande Ramos and hired Portsmouth Manager, Harry Redknapp! This should be interesting.

Of the current Tottenham squad, Redknapp commented, "They have a decent squad on paper, although it's not a well-balanced squad, it's a squad with good ability, very skillful players, but maybe a bit of a soft centre. We need a little bit more strength and aggression about the team if we're going to survive. You don't pick up two points if you're that good."

First team coaches, Gus Poyet and Marcos Alvarez also leave the club as does sporting director Damien Comolli.

Clive Allen will temporarily fill in as Manager for Tottenham's game today against Bolton. Often when a side has a new manager, the team, conscious that they are now fighting for a place to stay in the squad, play a bit better. Lets hope this is the case today.

Social Network Popularity - Myspace verses Facebook

When you think about Internet Social Network sites, the two most people will bring to mind are either Myspace or Facebook.

Myspace was established during August 2003 and Facebook a year later in 2004. The rise in popularity of these networking sites has been nothing short of phenomenal. Banks and Business' in London had to ban their employees from using them during office hours due to the amount of valuable man hours that were being lost each day to them.

So what site is the most popular? Myspace or Facebook?

If you go to Alexa.com, the site for measuring Web Traffic, you will get a pretty good picture.

This graph, courtesy of Alexa.com, measures historic web traffic. That is the amount of people who are visiting and using the site on a daily basis, the rise and falls. Facebook is the red line and Myspace is the blue line.

As you can tell, Myspace used to be the most popular site, but then was overtaken by a rising Facebook during April 2008. Myspace has failed to respond while the popularity of Facebook skys ever higher. There is now clear distance between the two sites and if it continues like this for a sustained time, Myspace may find it a little hard to regain its earlier supremacy.

X Factor - Week 3 - Scott Bruton out

Scott Bruton has become the third act to be voted out of X Factor 2008.

This week was Big Band night and it is only when you see acts having to face the bottom two sing-off for survival, you can see how much that this contest really means to them. This competition is tough. Very tough.

Scott's performance of "That's Life" saw him fall into the bottom two against Daniel Evans. Evans gave a very emotional and heart-felt performance of his survival song which was enough to see him go through.

Louis had the final judges vote on the matter and you could tell it was an extremely hard decision for him to make. In a week where the performances have been arguably the strongest ever, it was always going to be tough deciding who would be the one to go.

Simon Cowell said it, in other years, Scotts performance would have been strong enough to go through.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing - Week 6, Scores after the Judges vote

Week 6 tonight of BBC Strictly come dancing saw the celebrities dance either the Paso Doble or the Viennese Waltz.

Here are the scores from Len Goodman and his band of Judges.

Austin Healey & Erin 34
Tom Chambers & Camilla 32
Rachel Stevens & Vincent 32
Cherie Lunghi & James 31
Lisa Snowdon & Brendon 29
Heather Small & Brian 27
Jodie Kidd & Ian 26
Andrew Castle & Ola 24
Christina Bleakley & Matthew 22
John Sergeant & Kristina 21
Mark Foster & Hayley 16

Austin was back on top after a bit of a dip last week confirming his favouritism. Rachel Stevens also bounced back to score 32 which Tom Chambers equalled despite a week which saw him get married, have a honeymoon and only put in 9 and half hours practice!

Last week, Heather Small ended up in the bottom two dance off despite finishing mid-way in the table at this stage. The same thing could happen again as people at home vote in their droves for John Sergeant and Christina Bleakley.

Be sure to watch this Sunday when the 6th Eliminee from Strictly Come Dancing 2008 will be revealed.

X Factor 2008 - Week 3 - Who is going out tonight?

Tonight is Week 3 of the Live performances of X Factor 2008. This week is Big Band Week! So it could be a challenge for some. It will interesting to see how contest favourite, Diana Vickers' unique style is altered to fit in with this brand of music.

Who will be eliminated? Well, as usual that depends largely on the voting viewing public. Here is how the market assesses each acts chances of being voted out the show.

Daniel Evans 13/8
Ruth Lorenzo 11/4
Scott Bruton 7/2
Rachel Hylton 5/1
J L S 14/1
Eoghan Quigg 25/1
Austin Drage 33/1
Alexandra Burke 33/1
Laura White 50/1
Diana Vickers 50/1

Louis Walsh branded him a Ricky Gervais lookalike, but I'm sure that hasn't anything to do with Daniel Evans now being favourite to go out. Well mostly sure anyway.

Ruth Lorenzo featured in the bottom two last week, but her powerful voice should favour a Big backing band, so she could very well escape the sing off. I'm sensing we could have a shock result this week.

Louis will be praying that his last remaining act, JLS, stay in. If they go out,Mr Walsh would have lost all of his acts in the opening three weeks and will be ribbed by Simon Cowell possibly for eternity.
